3 Proven Retention Strategies for Insurance Agents

Retention should be a core part of any insurance agent’s sales strategy. By prioritizing client retention, agents can significantly grow their business. Here are some tried-and-true strategies that you can start implementing today.

Retention should be a high priority for any insurance agent. Here are some strategies to focus on:

  1. Maintain steady communication. Keep communication lines open by setting up regular touchpoints with clients. A couple times each year is a good goal. Non-business-related greeting cards on a holiday or their birthday are also a great way to build a long-lasting relationship.

  2. Be proactive and honest about upcoming changes. Upcoming changes can be a concern for clients. By being up front and transparent, agents can show they care and build trust. Don’t let your client learn about premium or benefit changes from somewhere else with no explanation or options. Being honest about impending changes in the upcoming renewal policy leads to more loyalty in the long run.

  3. Have a social media presence. Social media is a powerful tool for any agent, helping you connect with clients in new and unique ways. Ensure you have active profiles with at least one picture and your business information. You can share health care and insurance news or stories that interest you to educate clients. You can also follow clients to see and engage with what’s happening in their lives.
